10:12 a.m. Today's project is to go over to the house of the widow our ladies' helps and visiting team has been supporting, and find out why she hasn't been answering the phone around the same late morning time each day, or last Saturday either. One of her sons always says, "she's out with a friend," and doesn't know with whom or where. Now, these boys are teenagers, so I wasn't buying that...
I just called, and one son finally admitted that their mom has been in the hospital for a week! Looks like I'll be headed over to Kaiser this afternoon on our way to Chula Vista to spend the night before our grandson's promotion from middle school early tomorrow morning.
If this mother of five grown kids knows anything, it's adolescents, and their typical behavior when they are afraid! These boys are afraid for their mother's life, and even more afraid that someone will notify authorities that they are alone, with just a visiting nurse/aide who drops in daily. There are no relatives whatsoever.
I called Calvary Chapel Moreno Valley and got word to Pastor Mike, who is very familiar with the situation. My helps team will get an email from me shortly. They will be very quick to visit or at least call the hospital and probably take something over to the boys if they aren't going to the women's retreat tomorrow.
Paul wrote in Colossians 4:17, "Take heed to the mnistry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it."
I'd better take heed!!
